Tvip 605

There are two important elements for a reliable IPTV setup. A high-quality IPTV service provider that streams all channels and VOD content, and a TV set-top box that connects to your IPTV service and plays the streams. The market for IPTV set-top boxes, unlike the Android TV set-top box market, is small and doesn't offer much variety. We're happy to announce that there's a new box that end users should consider when purchasing their next IPTV box: the Tvip 605.

What is the link between Tvip 605 and the iptv box?

There are dozens of options when it comes to TV set-top boxes for different user experiences. Generally speaking, IPTV boxes offer a more cable- like streaming experience with dedicated TV streaming interfaces. They tend to be better at streaming from IPTV services and are generally a more user-friendly and reliable solution.

Android TV boxes, on the other hand, are also capable of streaming from services using third-party apps. However, the user experience is a little different, not as natural. On the other hand, Android TV boxes are very versatile and can be used with a wide range of apps and services.

The Tvip 605 belongs to the category of dedicated IPTV boxes, supporting IPTV streaming out of the box and with high reliability.

Tvip 605 Box Review Results

We used the Tvip 605 for about a month as our main daily streaming box. In a nutshell, our experience with it was great. While there are clear arguments for the versatility of Android TV boxes, nothing really beats the streamlined user experience of a dedicated, purpose-built IPTV box. No additional settings or apps to install . Simply enter your provider details and you're ready to go.

Features of Tvip 605

TVIP isn't really a well-known brand yet. All documentation, guides, user interface, and their website are in English.

So, let's find out more about this box, what it can (and can't) do, and how it compares to a MAG, BuzzTV, or Dreamlink.

Tvip 605 Specifications

Let's start with the specifications. Unlike the MAG 254 and 256, the TVIP supports 4K HDR video resolution. To ensure smooth streaming at such a high resolution, a 1.5 GHz quad-core S905x processor and a Mali-450 graphics card handle all the processing. 1 GB of RAM ensures fast browsing and overall lag-free operation out of the box.

Under the hood, the tvip actually runs a dual boot with Linux and Android 8.0. This allows the box to support a number of middleware, including the very popular Stalker middleware, as well as apps.

Tvip 605 in use

The box includes everything you need to set up the IPTV device. The device itself is quite small and feels sturdy and high-quality. Once plugged in, the device can be started with the included remote control (which includes programmable buttons for your TV ).

Setting up IPTV providers is quite straightforward, but may require a bit of fiddling with the different options. This is mainly due to the fact that this device supports many different middleware and streaming protocols. The great thing about the device is that it can perfectly run one or more STB portals, just like a MAG set-top box would.

Tvip 605 User Guide

The IPTV streaming experience itself is excellent. Set up your IPTV portal and launch the box directly on the portal. From there, you can browse channel sections, access the electronic program guide, or stream VOD content. Do you have multiple IPTV providers as backups? No problem with the Tvip 605.

The Tvip 605 can also act as a DVR and supports time shifting to ensure you don't miss any of your TV highlights.

Additionally, additional applications are installed. The list is currently quite limited, with YouTube and Plex standing out as the most useful. There is also a media player and the ability to stream from CCTV cameras.

Streaming Performance

One of the most important questions, of course, is how well and reliably the tvip TV box can stream live TV. And we're happy to report that our experience was great. We didn't see anything we would or could fault on tvip. Changing channels, navigating the EPG, and streaming TV were overall smoother and more reliable compared to an Android box with Perfect Player.

Of course, it also depends on the IPTV service, your router, and many other factors. But from what we've experienced, the Tvip 605 handles IPTV streaming like a champ.

What we liked

Aside from the overall fast interface and reliable streaming performance, what really stood out to us was the device's maturity. Initially, we were a little wary of this streaming box and weren't entirely sure if it could stand up to the bigger names. But we were pleasantly surprised during our month-long trial of the device.

We didn't experience a single crash , lag spike, or stutter while using this box. The interface is clean and easy to use. The first time we used the box, an automatic update was installed. Automatically downloading the latest system software eliminates the need to visit the manufacturer's website to get the latest version.

One additional feature that we didn't use, but may be useful to others, is the 5 GHz Wi-Fi . We always recommend using a wired connection. But, if that's not possible, the TVIP 605's 5 GHz Wi-Fi with a powerful Wi-Fi router should give you enough bandwidth for smooth streaming.

Where to buy the TVIP box

The TVIP box is still a bit of a niche product and not widely available. Electronic Depot has it on its online store and ships the box worldwide.

Conclusion

Is the TVIP 605 a viable competitor to the biggest brands in the IPTV hardware market? We think so. It certainly hasn't revolutionized the IPTV set-top box . But it's very reliable and runs flawlessly in our opinion. If multi-vendor support and middleware are important to you, the TVIP is the best box to get. If you just want a smooth IPTV streaming experience, the TVIP 605 is as good as a MAG.
